LIID EVENT 1
Africa has been plagued with leadership crisis, likewise Ghana. So there is the need to raise a new caliber of leadership who will not just influence people to make a difference, but will do that in the spirit of integrity, so as to be able to extend their dominion hence the birth of the Leadership Integrity Influence and Dominion Series (LIID) which is founded and solely sponsored by Fant Global Initiatives. Though there is the LLID mentorship sessions and the LIID train (which focuses on empowering students in primary, junior and senior high institutions).
The programme is organized annually with support from an annual committee that is formed to support in the organization of the programme. The programme is aimed towards the training of young leaders through experience of highly influential and God-fearing personalities that have had that jungle-like story life. It mainly focuses on young trainees that are receiving training in the various health institutions. The increase in publicity, along with noble guest speakers attracted the interest of the entire college students. It is the founder’s dream to expand the audience of the programme.
The maiden edition of the LIID series was held in the College of Health and Well-Being, Kintampo. It had four (4) speakers namely: Lawyer Ebenezer O. Opoku (a seasoned lawyer with years of experience and a tutor of the College of Health and Well-Being, Mr Michael Kofi Fianyo (a young youth activist and an aspiring politician), Miss Miriam Adjei (a budding student leader who has served in several capacities with great strides in the arena of Physician Assistants and Maame Ama Pomaah Appiah-Adjei (the first female student representative council president of the College of Health and Well-Being).
The first speaker, Miss Miriam Adjei spoke on her general perspective about leadership with series of examples. She challenged the group to focus on building leadership abilities instead of the concept of thinking of themselves as bosses lording themselves over others.
The second speaker, Mr Michael Kofi Fianyo discussed how he rose through ranks to become a student and political activist. He stated that, it takes learning, dedication and mentorship to be able to garner the guts to surf in that terrain.
The third speaker, H.E. Maame Ama Pomaah spoke on how she rose through challenges of becoming the first female president in the turf of a male dominated position. She encouraged participants on how they need to be focused. She had to let go, one dream of chasing a beauty pageant to becoming the SRC president. Among the challenges she shared was one on how she was able to lobby with the administration to have the SRC complex building completed amongst the lot. She challenged that, always remember you need to be mentored and be ready to listen else you might not be able to make any significant stride.
The last speaker, E. O. Opoku, Esq, challenged the entire audience, sharing his life from humble beginning through to Prempeh College and then to KNUST where he obtained a degree in Bsc Medical Laboratory Technology. He challenged the group that nothing is impossible once you set your mind to do it. He intimated that, serving as a tutor, he had to take up a course to attaining his L.L.B. and further to the Ghana School of Law. He shared with the congregation, how he has grown to become one of the sought out lawyers in the country and the need to always be focused even in difficult times.
